Spring lets its blue ribbon flutter through the air again
Sweet, familiar scents strips foreboding land …

It was our first joint celebration – a celebration in honor of spring, and in honor of a UNESCO World Heritage site. For our highly motivated Hamburger DIWAN group it was the very first event they had organized together. On 20 March at 6.14 clock in the morning was the arrival of spring – and with it began a new year in the Persian solar calendar. Children get presents. All put on their new clothes. The house is cleaned from top to bottom, it smells like New Year pastries and hyacinths, and all gather around the festively decorated New Year’s table, on it. Symbols for a fruitful new beginning Everyone congratulates each, the boys visit the elderly, the nature wakes up. Many remember back – at the festival in Iran, surrounded by her loved ones, of childhood memories …. The reason for the DIWAN, bring people together.

The festival in Cologne

“… The earth is breaking, the land is green … what lay beneath the soil, which was sleeping under the snow, stretches young and fresh as a daisy …” – with these lines of contemporary Iranian poet Siawash Kasraii we opened our celebration. And then … the stage was in the Belgian house once our DIWAN-young. Directed by Yalda Ahmadpour declared our kids the “Haftsin”, the New Year’s table – and danced with Amu Norouz (“Uncle Norouz”) brought the spring. The little ones could then craft a spring basket and let’s face makeup. The Great heard the talk about the “cultural history of Norouz-fests” to presented by Kambiz Espahangizi.

The DIWAN made the highly sophisticated technology of the 21st Century advantage – and switched live to our DIWAN-friends at the Hamburg Museum of Ethnology. A greeting from the Rhine to the Alster …! … Musically left the Cologne nothing to be desired: the singing virtuoso Afsaneh Sadeghi, accompanied at the piano by Hamed Garschi strolled effortlessly through four octaves and impressed the audience with acapella pieces. Then we visited the three multi-instrumentalist from DreiO from Cologne – with the Tombak, the didgeridoo and the clarinet. An exciting sonic journey through Belarus, Germany / Peru and Iran – the countries of origin of novel Kushniarou, Waskhar Schneider and Syavash Rastani of DreiO. Finally, we took on the wing with Rafaati Reza in Iran’s chanson and pop world of the seventies. An incredibly warm voice, of which we shall hear much. But would not Norouz Norouz without dance. Our “ceremony dancer” said Helia – in Holland, she taught classical Persian dance, in Cologne, she charmed us with grace, gorgeous costumes and a lot of feeling – the main ingredient in the way of Iranian dance, for the yes rules were never written down. Finally, it was called “dance floor free for all” – we did with DJ Azaraksh swing their hips. Welcome Spring!

Our sincere thanks go to all those artists who have stepped spontaneously, as the venue – the Belgian House Cologne – and all the loving children’s program, directing and organizing volunteers. You all let’s grow together to DIWAN – how beautiful!

The festival in Hamburg

Our Location: the beautiful Hamburg Museum of Ethnology. Our reception: Folk Music from Northern Iran, sung by the female chorus Yalda. With sounds of Payam Mousavi at the tar lute began the official part – our moderators Bahar Roshanai and Helge Nissen. Then we Hooman Nasr invited with his beautiful pictures on a trip through Iran to typical tourist destinations such as Persepolis or the Hafez Mausoleum, or showed us the different faces of the Iranian everyday. Ramin Shaghaghi explained the historical roots of Norouz-fests. One of our highlights: the performance of the group atically vibez. They told their dance with their own interpretations of the story of “Frühlingstroubadoure” Haji Firouz and Amu Norouz – as ambassadors of spring, which accompany the people out of the darkness and the winter into spring.

Also present: the Iranian child cancer with a raffle for patients in Iran. And. Bandaje the band, with their rock-pop compositions rocked the museum and created collective cheer Admired our little guests, meanwhile, the shadow play artists Elfa who presented a play about the phoenix and the sun, “Khorshid wa Simorgh”.

We sincerely want to thank our artists and volunteers who have supported us full commitment and drive. Without you, this festival – our debut as DIWAN Hamburg-not have been possible. Even the DIWAN Cologne we are indebted for all their support and that they have taken under their wing and provide advice and support to stand.

And now we speak in photos: Here are the impressions of our Norouz celebration in Hamburg, captured by our photographer Mohammad Farrokhmanesh Asiedu and Sebastian:
